Interview – Efdemin
Posted: January 20, 2012 Filed under: Berlin, Interview, Radio Helsinki | Tags: Berlin, Efdemin, Radio Helsinki, Sendung Tonspur Leave a comment »Efdemin is the Dj Alias of Phillip Sollmann. After living couple of years in Hamburg (Dial connection with Lawrence & Carsten Jost), he is now living and working for a couple of years in Berlin.
You could locate Efdemin’s production in the intersection of house and techno with some influences from Detroit, New York and Chicago but still it has it’s own flavour. The first release of Sollmann was published in 1998 on Kompakt. A very promising start for a newbie. But the interest in producing flies again and then the career has to wait for the time being. Instead Sollmann studied in Vienna at the Institute for Experimental Computer Music and Acoustics. At the formative influences of his youth, like Depeche Mode, Sonic Youth and Psychic TV now he is adding composers like musique concrète and Pierre Henry to his collection. He makes sound installations and works on experimental pieces in the operatic context. Finally, he turns again to electronic club music.
Enjoy a relaxed Interview with Efdemin after New Years Eve and his gig at Festsaalkreuzberg in Berlin (the interview was held in German, sorry about that for non german native speakers).

Teitur sings about being alone, love, wanderlust, his fight against it and much more . He dresses it into warm yearning tones, touching without being melodramatic. Raised up on the Faroe Islands and Denmark and living in cities like New York and London. We had the chance to interview him some days before Christmas where he was playing a fabulous Xmas concert at Loppen in Christiania/Copenhagen. Therefore we were talking about how to feel home (he moved his base to Copenhagen) and the deal about “Why Teitur is making a special Xmas concert”. Enjoy!
